The silver shekel of Jerusalem, in circulation from 143 to 135 BCE, was decorated with three pomegranates. A similar design which included a branch of three pomegranates adorned the silver shekels that were minted in Jerusalem during the Jewish Great Revolt against Rome, which took place from 66 to 70AD.
