Chef's Bio
Chef Herve Glin was born in Brittany, France. He trained as a baker in his youth and apprenticed as a cook for 3 years in Paris at the "Concorde Lafayette," a five-star Palace. Glin moved to Montreal to work for both the Four Seasons and Hilton corporations as a Chef de Partie.
The next stop was in Texas to work for the Warwick hotel located on Post Oak and then to La Colombe d' Or Mansion in Houston.
The Napa Valley was Glin's next stop. There he worked at Meadowood Resort in St. Helena for 3 years. He moved back to Houston to open a restaurant called Cite Grill and was named "Best New Rising Star" in Food & Wine magazine. Glin's restaurant also won "Best of 30 new Restaurants in America" in Esquire magazine and "Best new Bistro" from Zagat.
At the "La Valencia Hotel" in La Jolla, California Glin was voted "Best Newcomer Chef" by San Diego magazine. He opened a Glatt Kosher Deli called "Sampson's Deli in La Jolla and the French Market Grill as partner-chef in Rancho Bernardo, California.
In December, 2000 Glin joined the Ladeki group as executive chef to open Maraskino Restaurant and Prime 10 Steakhouse in Rancho Mirage, California. He has been featured on CBS TV's "Eye on the Desert" and hosted a six-month fitness challenge for featuring healthy eating at Maraskino.
In October 2005 Glin became the co-founder of The Pendlteon Foundation, dedicated to helping meet local residents suffering from cancer. Glin remains involved in organizing the Foundation's annual lively Chefs Auction events which continue to assist those in need.
Glin opened Cork Tree in April 2007 as executive chef, cooking California Cuisine with a Coachella Valley twist.
