Ingredients
- 1-1/2 oz. freshly squeezed pomegranate juice* or POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice
- 1-1/2 oz. grapefruit vodka
- 1 oz. fresh orange juice
- 1 oz. cinnamon syrup**
Garnish
- cinnamon-brown sugar powder† (for rim of glass)
- orange zest
Preparation
- Prepare a cocktail glass by wetting the rim with an orange and then frosting it with cinnamon-brown sugar powder.
- Assemble the first four ingredients in a cocktail shaker glass and shake well.
- Strain into the prepared glass and drop an orange zest into the drink.
Note
This cocktail can be made with freshly squeezed juice from a large POM Wonderful Pomegranate or by using POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice. To juice the pomegranate, cut it in half (as you would a grapefruit) and juice using a citrus reamer or a juicer. Pour the mixture through a cheesecloth-lined strainer or sieve. One large POM Wonderful Pomegranate will produce about 1/2 cup of juice.
** Cinnamon syrup can be purchased at gourmet stores or specialty markets. To make cinnamon syrup, dissolve 1 quart of water and 1 quart of agave nectar. Once dissolved, add 10 cinnamon sticks. Cover and simmer on low heat for two hours. Let the syrup cool and bottle it.
† Mix together equal parts cinnamon and brown sugar. Stir thoroughly and pour mixture onto a saucer for dipping the rim of the cocktail glass into.
