Overview

Pretzels dipped in a POM Wonderful® Pomegranate Juice yogurt blend, topped with hemp seeds, and frozen until firm

Greek yogurt mixed with POM Wonderful® 100% Pomegranate Juice turns a bright pink-red, no food coloring needed. Dip, top with hemp seeds, and freeze; the yogurt sets into a firm, dippable shell.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup hemp seeds (optional)
  • 30 pretzels
  • ¼ cup POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice

Where to Buy

Instructions

  1. Mix Greek yogurt and POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice until smooth.
  2. Dip pretzels into POM yogurt blend.
  3. Place pretzels on parchment paper, then top with hemp seeds.
  4. Freeze for at least 1 hour.

Optional Tips

  1. Whisk the yogurt and juice together fully before dipping. Streaks of undissolved yogurt won’t coat evenly and leave bald spots on the pretzel.
  2. Use a fork or skewer to dip. It keeps the coating smoother and keeps hands clean through all 30 pretzels.
  3. Add hemp seeds immediately after dipping. The yogurt coating starts to set within a minute or two at room temperature, so seeds need to go on before it firms up.
  4. Freeze on parchment, not a plate. Pretzels stick directly to a plate or foil and tear when lifted; parchment releases cleanly once frozen.
  5. Store frozen, not refrigerated. The yogurt coating is a frozen shell, not a set dip; at refrigerator temperature it softens and slides off.

Variations

  1. Chocolate Version. Swap the pomegranate juice for melted dark chocolate for a half-and-half tray of both styles.
  2. Different Toppings. Swap hemp seeds for chopped pistachios, shredded coconut, or POM Wonderful® Pomegranate Arils.
  3. Bite-Sized Pretzels. Small pretzel twists or sticks work in place of full-size pretzels; reduce the freeze time slightly since they’re thinner.
  4. Dairy-Free Version. A plain, unsweetened coconut or oat milk yogurt substitutes for Greek yogurt; texture will be slightly softer once thawed.

Frequent Questions

Q: Why do the pretzels turn pink?
‍
A: POM Wonderful® 100% Pomegranate Juice tints the Greek yogurt a natural pink-red; no food coloring is added.

Q: How long do these need to freeze?
‍
A: At least 1 hour, until the yogurt coating is completely firm to the touch.

Q: Can these be made ahead for a party?
‍
A: Yes. Store them frozen in an airtight container for up to a week and pull them out shortly before serving.

Q: Do yogurt-covered pretzels need to stay frozen?
‍
A: Yes. The coating is a frozen shell; at room temperature for more than about 15–20 minutes it softens and starts to slide.

Q: Can plain pretzels be swapped for a different base?
‍
A: Pretzel rods, mini pretzel twists, or even graham crackers can be dipped the same way.

Q: What if the yogurt coating cracks after freezing?
‍
A: A thin, even dip coat is less likely to crack. If it cracks slightly, it’s still fine to eat.

Q: How many does this recipe make?
‍
A: This batch makes 30 pretzels, enough for a party platter or a couple of weeks of snacking.

Q: Is Greek yogurt necessary, or does regular yogurt work?
‍
A: Greek yogurt’s thickness lets it coat and set into a firm shell. Regular yogurt is thinner and will drip off before freezing.
